The Difference a Year Makes
Making New Traditions & Celebrating Our History
Phase I of Fundraising Complete!
Your generous donations quickly got the ball rolling, fully funding the hurdles and putting us well on our way towards the new high jump pit. Then, a generous donation from a Class of ‘89 alumnus put us over the top. We are excited to announce that as of last week, all new Fundraising Phase I equipment has been purchased and is ready for practice beginning in the 2023 Indoor Track season!
Over the First Hurdle!
We are blown away by the generosity of our donors! Just over the weekend, we cleared the bar for our first major fundraising goal, surpassing the $9,800 needed to fully fund our brand new set of 21st century hurdles. We are so excited for these to line the track when we move into our new, cutting edge facility this June.
Thanks to you all, we are also already well on our way towards funding our much-needed new high jump pit. Right now, we only need $6,000 to hit our mark!
Breaking Ground
Last Friday we reached another huge milestone of our renovation project: breaking ground on our new track facility. This ground breaking ceremony sent a message to our team that our dream of practicing and competing at home on a safe and cutting-edge track is achievable, and that we have the support from the City of Oak Ridge, City Council, the Oak Ridge School Board and the community in reaching that goal.
Day One: Let the Fundraising Begin!
We are so excited to begin this project updating the historic Ben Martin Track! Many of us attended - even competed for - ORHS and so this project not only means providing our student-athletes and our community with new safe and competitive resources, but continuing the legacy of ORHS Cross Country and Track & Field greatness which Hall of Fame coach Jim MacNamee began decades ago.
